WHAT YOU DID ?

For a moment just think of all the things you possess, close your eyes, lean back and go to your past. What is the first thing you remember since your birth?

Most people do not remember the events prior to their fifth birthday. Is the first thing you remember is when your father took you by the hand to the park? Or is it the stories your mother told you?

Now start from the first day you lived or remember and slowly come to the present Then make  a balance sheet of your life.

From the day you started elementary school, the education of life, you have had a considerably a dense scholastic  experience. Lessons, exams, with numerous happy and sad memories. Your friends, fights, cutting school, your first love . . .your affairs. . . Walking hand in hand in the park. . .

Then a day came and you received your diploma. Then you started you first step in a most more difficult domain. . .

Your professional work life. . . Maybe it was quite difficult for you to adapt to this life. Maybe you looked for a job for a long period. Maybe you had to take competitive exams for this

But in the end you got a job. Then you became a lamb at the table of  wolves. Then you became a merciless wolf between the teeth of the struggle of life. A struggle with your friends who envied your success. Frictions with your superiors. Your struggle to break off a raise from your boss. Persevering through these difficulties and  achieving  a position. .Your acquiring respect, money and position. . .

Then your making the acquaintance of the woman of your life. . . Engagement, marriage and  your assuming the responsibility of another human on your shoulders. . . Then the responsibility of another human. . . Your first child. . . then the days it was hard to make ends meet, paying your first installments, your childís baby food and then doctor bills. . . The days you had to get a loan. . . And then finally when you overcame all these difficulties and became prosperous. . . Maybe you first got an automobile and you no longer had to lease a home. . . And came today. . .

Now, close your eyes again, take a deep breath and think. . . Now, what have you done for God, who let you live a life with ups and downs, breathe healthily, acquire a diploma, job,  child, automobile, home, money, and respect?

Up to this point all the things you thought, were activities about subsisting without being dependent upon anyone else. . . in other words worldly things. . .

Know ye (all), that the life of this world is but play and amusement, pomp and mutual boasting and multiplying, (in rivalry) among yourselves, riches and children. Here is a similitude: How rain and the growth which it rings forth, delight (the heart of )the tillers; Soon it withers; thou will see it grow yellow; then it becomes dry  and crumbles away. But in the Hereafter is a penalty severe (for the devotees of wrong) and Forgiveness from God and (His_ Good Pleasure. (for the devotees of God). And what is the life of this world, but goods and chattels of deception? VERSE 20, IRON (HADID) SURA 57

What did you do for God who gave you facilities to struggle for your bread, your share of cake; who favored you and provided new possibilities  in  hard times?

If you say I worked and earned these, then you are mistaken. . .

You could have hade an immediate health problem. . . You could have been laid off at a time least expected. . .the  people whom you trust could have deceived you. . . Or you could have had an accident on the way home from work. . then what would all this struggle be worth?

Leave Me alone, (to deal) with the (creature) whom I created ( bare and) alone To whom I grated resources in abundance And sons to be by his side! To whom I made (life) smooth and comfortable! Yet he is greedy- that I should add ( yet more) VERSES 11-12-13-14-15, ONE WRAPPED UP (MUDDESSIR) SURA 74

And what have you done for God for all of these efforts?

If your answer is really a big nothing. . . then this means that in this  world where you were sent to acquire heaven,   you  worked  to acquire the world.

If today you are not dependent on anyone and you are in good health. . . and if you havenít glorified God for this for His grace. . .

Know that you have shamed. . .

Now close your eyes again and make a balance sheet of your life. .  Now think . . .What have you gained? What have you lost?

May God be your beloved and your companion.
