There was once a Muhammed Ali (Cassius Clay). . who flew like a butterfly and stung like a bee. . the middle aged would know. . .we would get up in the wee morning to watch his matches. . he would knock his opponents with one punch. . .
Now, Muhammed Ali, with his trembling arms and legs, is barely able to stand up. . . Because he is inflicted with Parkinson’s . . .
People think they are exalted when they possess physical power, economic strength, position or titles. .. . they believe they will never be assailed or die. . and with this thought they become arrogant and
.condescend to others around them. . .
Whereas, suddenly, the smallest germs invisible to the naked eye can make us bed bound . . or a nerve or artery in any part of our body may not function properly. .and we may be destitute to a glass of water provided by one of the people we once humiliated or looked down on. . .
There was once a Superman (Christopher Reeve). . . But the world was not able to redeem him. . .people celebrating their birthdays, never think that one day they will a “death day” too.
Every soul will have a taste of death. And We test you by evil and by good by way of trial. To Us you must return. Verse 35, The Prophets (Anbiyaa) Sura 21
People living a hundred years ago are no longer living at this moment. . .
And one hundred years from now there will no longer exist any people who are alive today. . .
Lift your left arm. . . and think. . is it you who lift your arm?
Or is it He who permits you to do so? Years ago I had a displaced disc among the vertebrae in my neck. . my left arm would not respond to my commands. . . it was then that I understood that it was not I who lift up my arm. . .
If we are in good health. . . if we can walk and run. . . it is because God Almighty permits us to do so. . and we should thank Him for this. . .
Lift up your head and look into the sky. . what do you see? Little, miniscule stars, don’t you. . .actually, they are numerous times larger than our Earth. . when compared to its size in the Universe. . our Earth is like a grain of sand. . thus, man is not even a grain of sand.
In the vacuum of space in which we live, there are multitudes of freely moving meteors. . . meteors that can cause us to disintegrate should they collide with Earth.
There are black holes. . . which can swallow planets several times larger than Earth in one gulp. . .and there are molten minerals a few kilometers under the ground you stamp on. . .
It is not a far probability that those meteors may collide with Earth. . or that the molten minerals surface Earth to destroy us. . .
As people, when we access a little power or money or position. . .we tend to magnify ourselves. . and look down on others around us. . .we put on an air to our subordinates. . .we attack other countries and occupy them. . .we go to sports events with cleavers. . .and we beat up anyone who annoys us. . .
And we swagger on the surface of Earth. . .
“And swell not thy cheek (for pride) at men, nor walk in insolence through the Earth; For God loveth not any arrogant boaster.” Verse 18, The Wise (Luqman) Sura 31
We think that our beauty, money or position exalt us. . .
“. . .The most honored of you in the sight of God is (he who is) the most righteous of you.
Verse 13,The Inner Apartments (Hujurat), Sura 49
And there is another distressful outcome that awaits us. . . old age. . .
One day we become acquainted with it. . . with a back ache. . .
The wrinkles in our face. . .the whitening of our hair remind us of our helplessness. . .
we feel ourselves without any remedy. . .
This is the actual state of the creature we call a human being. . . but . . .this never ever crosses our mind as long as we possess power. . .whereas what is important is not what we are, but what we are going to become. . .
Actually, in view of the magnificence of the universe. . .people are more helpless than an ant. . .
Let’s think of what we are. . .and what we are going to become. . . Because to think, leads us to meditation. . . .
MAY GOD BE YOUR BELOVED AND YOUR COMPANION
SHOWING THE WAY
